- Onions - The Next Alternative Fuel Source???
Can onions be used as and alternative fuel source?
Quite frankly, YES!
The Danbury Connecticut Company, Gills Onions (fourth generation farmers) who, have perfected the process of cleaning, cutting, packaging and selling fresh produce, are installing two 250-kilowatt (kW) DFC Fuel Cell units that will be operational in mid-2007.
The two Direct Fuel Cell 300 power plants from FuelCell Energy also based in Danbury Connecticut, will use the renewable biogas created from onion peel waste products to generate electricity, while lowering waste disposal expenses and energy costs.
If we keep researching and perfecting our objectives - one day we will be so energy efficiant that we can concentrate on other important goals, like World Hunger.
