~~Green Power For Volvo - Bio-Ethanol XC60 - Detroit Auto Show
The green powered Volvo XC60 Concept will make its world debut at the Detroit show in January 2007 and will be powered by a six-cylinder, 3.2-litre bio-ethanol engine designed to run on e85 (85% ethanol - 15% gasoline).
Volvo R&D vice-president Magnus Jonsson said:
”We believe that FlexiFuel has great potential for larger engine sizes and we are planning to expand our range of bio-ethanol-powered engines.”
Volvo president Fredrik Arp said:
”A single renewable fuel will not be able to replace today’s fossil fuels; the range of alternative fuels will probably be far wider in the future.
“Many different fuels and technologies are therefore being developed in parallel, and ethanol reduces our dependency on fossil fuels.”
It is great that another auto manufacturer has seen the need for alternative fuels for our society!
Go Volvo!!!
